    The Australia Council recently decided to de-fund Craft Australia. Given the geographical size of Australia, it operates on a federal system, which grants some autonomy to the states. So there are a number of state craft and design organisations that have established strong profiles. But Australia now faces the prospect of losing its national craft body, just as it celebrates 40 years of existence.
    Given the increasing use of placeless online media, so we still need national craft bodies? This is an issue that is of particular concern to Australians presently, but other points of view are most welcome.
