It seemed useful to signal an issue that is of ongoing concern in craft at our end of the world. As we know, the state art institutions collected a large amount of craft up to the 1990s, then most seemed to neglect the field and focus instead on the more conceptual visual art. These institutions are our public archive, and represent an enduring record of the precious things of our time. So, which art galleries are living up to their public responsibilities in collecting craft for future generations? What kind of contemporary craft is in danger of being lost to future generations? And what are effective means of lobbying these institutions to collect more craft?

Good Q ! …Mostly The “Institutionalised” Cultural Gleaners, believe the Kraft as “Folk art” therfor not relevant ~ for real ! Man ! So much is lost with the collecting, as you might find from the last 2 decades [like not much], in the idear` of following any practitioners output over time, thereby alowing a glowing developmental view of their work, which in retrospect would reveal the mechanics of a Movement ! & Not just the collection of one person, Yet many… then the public,by way of triangulation/ survey, could disern for themselvs, a begioning or realised movement without to much “Curatorial” interfearance..Right ? So the actual cost of aquireing such is nominal overall,[in the aqusition "$" per item for Kraft] to the institutions, who are Funded & entrusted by the public, to Show whats “up” round the place, {if you know what i mean} so why so timid ? where’s the Gumtion ? Here’s my prompt – Get Busy, ! As we’r approching th 2nd decade of th Century , which [as history shows] informs and inspires~ all Milleniums.
